Welcome to the George Washington Elementary School, a Public Montessori Program in Kingston, NY.

Our vision for each and every child is that, beyond supporting the academic, creative, physical, social, and emotional development that is necessary for success, we hope to instill a joy of learning that will affect their experiences well beyond the elementary years. What we want most for our children is that they become passionate about their own learning, and that they have the tools and skills necessary for them to pursue educational and personal experiences as they grow and develop.

The staff of George Washington envisions that the process of professional growth and student progress involves a cycle of continual preparation, observation, evaluation, creation, and reflection.

Specifically to:

  • Develop in each child a deep love of learning and enthusiastic self-motivation beginning in Children’s House (4 – 6) at age 4 and extending through each plane of development: Elementary I (6 – 9) & Elementary II (4th grade); and
  • Establish in each child a mastery of fundamental skills utilizing concrete Montessori materials that help students gain a complete understanding of basic concepts; ·
  • Increase the ability of each child to think critically using reasoning and creative problem solving when doing tasks throughout the curriculum;
  • Develop the ability of each child to gain an in depth understanding of the Core Curriculum and to effectively apply that knowledge in other situations;
  • Allow a wide variety of avenues for creative expression for each child within the classroom and special activity classes in all areas of the arts;
  • Encourage physical development of each child through a wide variety of activities in class and playground, physical education classes, and team building;
  • Encourage every child to develop independence and a sense of personal meaning and responsibility for themselves, others, and our world; and
  •  Build in each child an emotional foundation of self-confidence as independent, lifelong learners, and inspire students to realize their highest potential.

BINGO- March 3, 2016

Who doesn’t love BINGO! We generally play the first Thursday of every month.   We play for fun and family friendly prizes!  All are welcome to play.  We have changed our rules in the past few months to make sure everyone gets a fair game!  We charge $3 for 5 games.  We only play 5 games (however if you choose to buy multiple packs of games- go right ahead- you just have to play all of the same color games at one time).  We sell baked goods at each event along with beverages and $1 slice pizza!  Come enjoy this evening with your friends and family!

Arrive early to get your bingo cards, blotter/game chips and some food.  Sit down and wait for the fun to come.  We wish you good luck at hitting it big!  Doors open at 5:30 and BINGO calling begins at 6pm- we go until we are done (event usually ends about 7pm)!

Vine Van Gogh Events- Past and Future!

We never had a chance to share this entry with you!  We are so grateful to the wonderful people at Vine Van Gogh who helped us put together an amazing evening of fun, food and painting at our very first Sip and Paint fundraiser event. We also have to say a special thanks to Jordan and the United Methodist Church for donating their space and time. We had such a success that we are planning our next event for April 21, 2016.

Our last event was on December 11, 2015 and we raised over $1,300 for our school.  We are excited about our April 21st event and will continue to keep everyone in the loop.  We are in the beginning stages of planning this event, so we will have a link to buy tickets soon!

In the meantime- let us share a bit about the venue.  We have included the link below for you to like Alebrijes’ Facebook page!  They are located on the corner of Wall & John Street in uptown Kingston.  They have a great location for this event and will be donating their space and restaurant.  We can not say thank you enough to them! Jose and his wife work very hard at what they do and they are creating a successful business and partnering with GW School for future Sip and Paint events!  We are pleased to inform everyone that we will also have a raffle at this event with some AMAZING baskets and prizes.  We are also offering a food ticket to anyone interested in eating at the event.  Food tickets come at an additional price and include one soft drink.

Look for more information and an upcoming flier- in the meantime- go check out the event album from the past!

Like Alebrijes on Facebook! Show them the support they are giving to us!
