BRIDGING THE GAP: George Washington Elementary School Students Visit Hudson Valley Senior Residence

George Washington School students visited the Hudson Valley Senior Residence in December and will continue to do so throughout the school year.

The Hudson Valley Senior Residence is adjacent to our school, and a different class will take a turn visiting the residents each Friday throughout 2014, bridging the important gap between our youth and elders.  Residents from the center are planning to come and work with the students in their classrooms.

The program kicked off  before Christmas break with Mr. Tom and Ms. Nicole’s E1 classes visiting with the Seniors and building Gingerbread houses.  The seniors loved working with the students and the students enjoyed working with the seniors.  Tom’s student’s also sang songs with the residents.  Some favorites for both kids and seniors were “Hound Dog” and Frosty the Snowman.”
