November, 2013

Dear Children and Parents,

This year, TOPS will begin on Monday, January 6th through Thursday, April 10th, 2014. The “Enrichment Model” will offer activities that are engaging and meaningful for students. This model will consist of activities that build character, focus, concentration, commitment and responsibility. They will incorporate skills essential for life long learning: academic, social, physical, and emotional.

TOPS is 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday) for students in all levels of C.H., EI & EII. Students will be in multi-age groups with approximately 10-12 students in each activity (some activities will be able to accommodate additional students) in order to provide quality instruction and one on one support for every student. Student mentors will also be on hand to support the program instructors. TOPS will also be cancelled on 1/2 days, early closings, and when school is not in session.

Students will have an opportunity to sign-up for activities with the understanding that they need to maintain their commitment and follow through by attendance and active participation. Enrollment is on a first come first serve basis. Positive behavior is expected of all students who attend the program.

Our 4th year students will have the option of attending the activities at the Boys and Girls Club – Monday, Tuesday & Thursday instead of the activities offered at George Washington. The Boys & Girls Club students will walk to the club accompanied by their group leaders after having a snack at the end of the school day and will be dismissed from the club at 5:00pm.

A permission form is attached to the TOPS student registration page. We ask you to fill in the student registration information and return them to school by FRIDAY, DECEMBER 13th.

Kindly fill in the parent/student registration information and we will work with your child/children to make sure they have an opportunity to sign up for the classes of their choice.

We look forward to an enriching experience! If you have any questions, please give me a call.

GW Elementary Student Grads Return to Volunteer for TOPS After School Program

The GW Elementary School, a Montessori program in Kingston, NY, is proud of its graduates – and it is always a treat when they return for a visit.

Here, we wish to highlight those who volunteer their time after full days of Middle School to work with the children who participate in our after school TOPS program.

Great job, and thank you!
